College of Human Environmental Sciences Endowed Academic Chair!

Our congratulations go out to Dr. Lingyan Kong, associate professor of human nutrition on being named the College of Human Environmental Sciences Academic Chair! This esteemed appointment is designed to reinforce Dr. Kong’s existing research program and facilitate the establishment of a robust nationally-recognized research program.

Dr. Kong’s research focuses on understanding structure-function relationships in carbohydrate biopolymers and developing food materials with unique structures and properties to enhance food quality and nutritional benefits. He has secured over $2 million in federal grants and published more than 80 peer-reviewed papers and book chapters.

Kong and other faculty scholars in CHES make significant contributions to the research and teaching missions of the University, and increase the national visibility of the University, which aids in attracting high-caliber faculty, excellent students, and external research funding opportunities.
