The dress is the debut workshop in the make series – an interdisciplinary, hands-on initiative led by faculty members in the Department of Clothing, Textiles, and Interior Design. In this immersive experience, participants will learn how to cut and sew a reimagined dress pattern first discovered in The Fashion Archive by biology major Emily Faircloth during her internship. Skills taught include reading patterns, cutting fabric, operating industrial sewing machines, applying seam and hem finishes, and mastering pressing techniques. All materials – including fabric, trims, patterns, and tools – are provided. Rooted in Emily’s digitized adaptation of a vintage handmade garment, community members are invited to step into the studio and bring creativity to life through making.
