ACADEMIC ADVISING
All students in the Department of Clothing, Textiles, and Interior Design are assigned to an academic advisor or a faculty advisor. Please check your DegreeWorks to identify your advisor.
If you have not been assigned an advisor, please contact Mrs. Brynna Cockrell at btrefny@ches.ua.edu.
It is the student’s responsibility to make sure they are advised and registered within a timely manner. Delaying advising and/or registration may result in necessary classes being full. We strongly encourage students to pursue an advising appointment several weeks before the registration period begins.
Advising for the Summer and/or Fall semesters will begin in March.
Advising for the Spring semester will begin in October.
Advising appointments are offered in-person and virtually, using Zoom. Upon scheduling a virtual advising appointment, you will receive an email that includes a link to join the meeting at your scheduled time. The appointment scheduling system will only show available appointment slots 24 hours out. If you attempt to schedule an appointment and there are no availabilities, check for a different time or day.
For additional questions, please contact your advisor directly.
Before your Advising Session
Review your DegreeWorks
Log into DegreeWorks, confirm that your major and minor are correct, and look through your remaining course requirements.
Review your registration information
From the Student tab on myBama, select “Registration” from the left column.
Click on Registration Status to see when you can begin registering for classes. Check that you have no holds or advising pins. If there are any (as shown by a red X), make an appointment with your advisor.
