The Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital Internship is an outstanding opportunity located 12 miles outside of Chicago, IL. One prestigious program, with over 90 years of history, offers a unique environment for interns to actively engage in practicing medical nutrition therapy within a diverse range of supervised practice areas. One of the standout features is the hands-on, immersive experience is integral to your growth, allowing you to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world settings. By the time you complete our program, you’ll not only possess the essential entry-level dietitian skills but also the confidence to excel as a professional in the dynamic field of dietetics.
Interns begin online graduate courses through the University of Alabama in June with internship hours beginning in late August. All rotations are meticulously arranged by the internship director, ensuring you work with highly qualified and experienced preceptors.
Our program is delighted to offer dietetic interns an exciting opportunity—an earned stipend for their 38 weeks of supervised practice at the hospital! That’s right—our interns get paid for all their hard work. Interns are paid a stipend of $15/hour while in supervised practice.
