The Southern Arizona VA Healthcare Dietetic Internship in Tucson, Arizona is a 52-week internship program. Supervised practice experiences include over 1200 hours in clinical nutrition, food service management, and community nutrition. The mission of the SAVAHCS Dietetic Internship is to prepare competent entry-level dietetics professionals to become Registered Dietitian Nutritionists committed to evidence-based practice in the care of Veterans and the public. Interns begin online graduate courses through the University of Alabama in June with internship hours beginning in late July. All rotations are arranged by the internship director with highly qualified and experienced preceptors. Interns are paid a stipend of $19,000 while in supervised practice. Upon successful completion of the program requirements, a VA Certification of Program Completion and the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) Verification Statement will be awarded.
