The VA Southern Nevada Health Care System (VASNHS) Dietetic Internship Program at the VASNHS Medical Center in Las Vegas, Nevada offers a supportive learning environment in a challenging and dynamic program with a focus on medical nutrition therapy and culinary excellence. Our program is designed to promote innovative, evidenced-based, patient-centered nutrition services, which prepares our graduates to be highly functioning, competent entry-level registered dietitians and future leaders in the profession of dietetics.
The program is available to eligible interns who are concurrently enrolled in an affiliated university’s master’s program or who hold a master’s degree at the time of entry into the program. The program length is 9 months (32 hours/week for 36 weeks), with at least 1152 supervised practiced hours in inpatient and outpatient clinical settings, food service management and administration, and health promotion. The program begins in early August and concludes in mid-April.
