The Crenshaw Research Fund is an internal endowment that supports a CHES faculty member’s ongoing or future research projects.
The Hayes New Initiative Fund is an internal endowment that supports CHES faculty-led projects designed to improve the quality of life of individuals and families in Alabama.
The Visiting Scientist Program supports a CHES faculty member to host and collaborate with a visiting scientist.
Through the Grant Writing Institute CHES faculty can participate in a semester-long grant-writing workshop.
UA’s Internal Grants Program provides funding through a competitive application process.
UA’s Alabama Life Research Institute (ALRI) provides pilot funding through a competitive funding process
Pilot Funding is available through the CHES Dean’s Office to support the collection of pilot data for future grant proposals. To inquire about these funds, contact the Associate Dean for Research, Dr. Robert Laird.
Professional Development
Travel Support is provided to faculty each year for travel to conferences and professional development.
The Excellence in Scholarship Award is given annually a faculty member who has exhibited excellence in research.

Support
Research initiatives in HES are overseen by the Associate Dean for Research, Dr. Robert Laird.
The HES Research Committee is chaired by Dr. Ryan Moran (HS) and has representatives from each department. The HES representatives to the ORED Small Grant Program (Formerly UA’s Research Grants Committee) are Dr. Lingyan Kong (Area A) and Dr. Deborah Casper (Area B).
